Ursula

We found Ursula huddled up against the wall of the depopulated FREE RANGE egg farm shed. She was terrified and starving. The shed door had been left wide open and the remaining hens who had been missed when they sent the rest of to slaughter, had no food and no water. These forgotten hens huddled together against the walls in fear. Ursula and the chicken next to her (Pepper) in this image were rescued, but please remember that ALL hens who lay your free range eggs are sent to slaughter at 18 months old. They are roughly caught and handled, loaded into a truck and sent to their deaths. This is exactly what you are paying for when you buy free range eggs.

Ursula

Ursula is a shy little lady who takes particular joy in the art of sunbaking. She also loves spinach and lettuce more than most other things.

All the hens I care from who were rescued from this shed are obsessed with water. They never go far from it and always drink more than they need. I named many of the hens from this shed water names. Ursula is named after a character in “The Little Mermaid”. Ursula will never be without water or food again regardless of wether she lays eggs or not. Hens are more than just an egg, so much more.
