Goblin

She was found cowering up the back of a disgusting cage at a poultry sale in May, 2016.
Being a tiny Frizzle hen, no one wanted her for their backyard slaughters. She had no meat on her.

In the photo below, you can see Goblin at the back of the cage.

She stood in that cage with her other sick cage mates and waited in fear whilst all around her were screaming chickens and ducks. Chickens being tied up and thrown in to car boots by their wings. Roosters being tied by their legs and thrown in to cars. Ducks being held by their wings. There was suffering and pain everywhere at that poultry sale and this happens weekly here in Victoria and it happens daily all over the world, where poultry are treated as less than rubbish.

At the end of the day’s auctions, Goblin, the tiny Frizzle hen was left as no one wanted her. My friends grabbed her and she made her way to me.

Goblin is tiny and so sweet. She was sweet enough to put in with my huge broiler hen, Marshmallow, and the two are now firm friends. Although still very scared of humans, she’s getting used to me slowly.

Goblin is like a character out of the movie, “Labyrinth”. She’s a fairy tale hen who dances, flies and skips everywhere, but she can’t go too far, she must always have her comrade Marshmallow in her sights.
