Pigs are smart, social, playful and intelligent animals. They are smarter than your average dog and also smarter than a three year old child. Despite this, in Australia, 6 million pigs are killed for their flesh each year.
The images of pigs in the slideshow below were taken at various farms, children’s farms and animal sanctuaries (including Edgar’s Mission Farm Sanctuary). Whilst taking these photographs over the years, I have been completely charmed by pigs. I have had muddy kisses from pigs. I’ve had pigs smear mud all over my lens and clothes. I’ve had piglets steal money out of my sister’s bag. I’ve had pigs calmly let me take photos of them from every angle. I’ve had pigs want to play and move so fast that photography was impossible. Every single experience I’ve ever had with pigs has been an absolute pleasure. I love pigs.
